Henry Mwakajumba began his career in film production in 2013, soon after completing a degree in Community Development at Tumaini University in his hometown of Iringa, Tanzania. Joined MFDI Tanzania the same year as an intern, he worked on Season Two of the critically acclaimed and award-winning Tanzanian television series, Siri Ya Mtungi. In 2014 he was hired by Made in Africa TV, a Dutch television company, to direct episodes of their roving reporter style production, Mini Buzz. Returning to MFDI in 2016, he worked as Second Assistant Camera Operator on the award-winning feature, Tunu. He also worked as a First Assistant Director on ZIFF award-winning features Segere, Homecoming in 2016, and Kiumeni in 2017. In the same year, as a cinematographer, he shot Safari Yangu, an award-winning TV series. In 2018 Henry directed six episodes of the web series "The Academy," an East Africa Community funded project. In 2020, Henry worked as DIT on Vuta n'kuvute (A Tug of War), an upcoming feature film produced by a South African-based company, Big World Cinema and Kijiweni Production. In Early 2021, he wrote, shot, and directed a 17 episodes TV Series called Baba Olivia, starling Gabo, Dude, and the comedian Katarina Karatu. He has also worked on several independent feature projects as a director, including the comedy web series "Cheka na Mimi" seasons 1 and 2, and Mwalimu Masemele, a feature film nominated for the Best Comedy award SZIFF in 2018. Henry also worked in several Commercials for companies like Vodacom, Halotel, and the Tanzanian Ministry of Health.
